About Us

History
My wife Michelle and I started Chautauqua Hydroseeding in 2009 after my retirement from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.  I was a Conservation Officer for 27 years and retired as the Chief of the Division of Law Enforcement.  It was a wonderful job and I attribute most of my successful career to a good dose of luck and surrounding myself with very smart people!!

Chautauqua Hydroseeding was actually the brainchild of a friend of mine. With strict requirements for erosion and sediment control being placed upon the construction industry, along with the need for residential lawn installation it was apparent there was a need for hydroseeding in southwestern NY and northwestern PA.

We purchased a small hydroseeder and a trailer and went to work! Nine years later and we are now on our fourth hydroseeder and have expanded the business to include hydroseeding, erosion and sediment control, weed control, lawn aerating and fertilizing, topsoil work and final grading.  Our business continues to grow and thrive!
WHAT IS HYDROSEEDING?
Hydroseeding is a one step application. Wood and paper hydroseeding mulch, high-quality grass seed, tackifier and commercial grade fertilizer are mechanically mixed into a slurry and then hydraulically sprayed on a prepared soil area. The process is fast and with proper watering it quickly produces a beautiful lawn
Hillsides, banks and other areas that can be a problem with other seeding methods are much easier to do when hydroseeding. Hydroseeding is safe and non-toxic to kids, pets and the environment.

WHY HYDROSEEDING MAKES AN EXCELLENT  CHOICE FOR ANY LAWN!
  • The new seed is suspended in a nutrient rich slurry and the contact of the seed with water in the spray machine instantly triggers the germination cycle.

  • The hydroseeding mulch layer seals in moisture around the seed and holds the soil in place.

  • The seed is applied at an ideal depth for excellent results.

  • Hydroseeding can be accomplished in one step so it is an efficient use of time, especially on the end of a large building project where time is very valuable.

  • Hydroseeding is very cost effective, especially when compared to laying sod. You can save up to 75% by hydroseeding your lawn instead of sodding.
